Viggo Mortensen is always in good movies. His vast filmography is curated with a priority of depth over predictable commercialism and The Dead Don’t Hurt is a notable addition. Written and directed by Viggo Mortensen this film is not told in the typical linear fashion. I was confused momentarily but quickly realized we went back to the history of their love story. Personally, I do not like Hollywood romance but I was deeply moved by their relationship and their outward struggles. Vicky Krieps gives a haunting, beautiful portrayal of her character. If you like Viggo Mortensen, then The Dead Don’t Hurt is a must see.
